Our Strategy

Listen. Go to Work. Get Results. It’s that simple.

STEP ONE:

LISTEN

The entire team is a great group of professionals that give you honest answers, and look for all possible ways to help you win. I highly recommend McDermott law group!
— Corey S.

Listening. The first step is listening to our clients. This is something that we take great pride in. All too often, people are trying to tell their stories, and the only thought in the mind of their audience (the attorney) is the value of their case. When this happens, facts are being missed. Very often, these facts can be critical in determining how best to posture a client's case. We want to hear the whole story, not just part of it. We want you, the client, to know just how important you and your involvement are in this process. For that reason, the listening doesn't just stop there.

If you’re dealing with an injury case: We want to hear from you regarding your healing process. We want to know exactly what changes you're experiencing in your life. Are you able to participate in the same activities that you were able to participate in before your accident? Are you able to work? Are you able to drive? Go to the gym? Are you having difficulty sleeping through the night? There are so many ways a person's life can be affected by a serious injury. If we don't ask you, stay in touch with you, and listen to you and your concerns, we'll never know. This is a very important part of the legal process, and is quintessential to securing the best possible outcome for your case.

If you’re dealing with criminal (or DUI) charges: We want you to tell us exactly what happened. Our job is not to pass judgment, our job is to eliminate or minimize any legal consequences you may be facing. Sadly enough, many attorneys never meet with their clients to discuss the case at hand or prepare their clients for questioning. These are two of the most critical ingredients of a good defense.

Finally, if you’re dealing with a family law matter: We need to know exactly what brought you to our office. We know it’s stressful, but the more information you provide us with, the better we can craft your petitions, and the better we know how to frame out various issues for hearing or trial. When it comes to these types of matters, we often recommend that our clients keep a daily journal memorializing any significant events that may have an impact on the outcome of the case.

At the end of the day, we make sure that all phone calls are taken and/or returned quickly. This sets us apart from our competition.

At MLG, we pride ourselves in finding creative, innovative, and aggressive ways in which to approach our clients’ cases.

Going to work for our clients. Aside from listening to our clients, it's very important that we act quickly to secure different evidence in a case. This includes everything from acquiring the necessary medical records and making sure that our clients are obtaining the necessary and proper medical attention, in injury cases; to making timely demands for all police reports, video footage from surveillance systems, witness information and any other important evidence, in criminal cases; to issuing interrogatories and requests for production of documents pursuant to Supreme Court rules in family law cases.

Regardless of the type of case, it's extremely important that we develop an intimate understanding of the entirety of the situation well in advance of any hearing or trial. By ensuring that both steps one and two (i.e. listening to you and working hard on developing the strongest argument on your behalf) remain an important focus in your legal matter, we are in the best position to proceed to the final step of your case.

STEP TWO:

GO TO WORK

STEP THREE:

GET RESULTS

Dave has so much knowledge on the courthouses and was outstanding at trial. The attention to detail was remarkable, it almost seemed as if it was his own personal case.
— Angela D.

Getting results. Yes, that's right...it's our goal to secure the best possible outcome for your case. We often become very close with our clients throughout this process, forming friendships that last well beyond the successful conclusion of your matter. That said, however, this is just another benefit of the job. In other words, our number one priority is not being your friend, but rather, it's being your hero. We want to be the champion of your cause. If you’re dealing with a serious injury case: you never get back to being 100%. You never recover completely. There's always some part of your body and/or your life that is affected, to some extent, well after your medical treatment has concluded. We understand this. This is why we fight aggressively on your behalf to secure the best possible outcome for your case.

When it comes to criminal (or DUI) matters: it seems that everyone is so quick to pass judgment. Though our country was founded on the principle that you’re innocent until proven guilty, it hardly feels that way anymore. For this reason, many people feel that they have the deck stacked against them, whether they actually did the act they’re accused of or not. We not only understand this, but fight that much harder to overcome it. And, if you haven’t already heard…ask around…we’re pretty damn good at what we do!

When it comes to matters of family law: unfortunately, we can’t wave a wand and make things perfect, or even restore them to the way they once were. That said though, we will try to do everything possible to put you in a better place than you were when you first walked through our doors. We mean it. We have a reputation for results. A big part of the reason for this is because we genuinely care about our clients. You’ll get to know this, first-hand, when we represent you.
